Emily’s Life #1

Prologue
Emily was walking around a place she once called home, her tail was slightly dragging on the ground, reflecting her depression she was feeling. Her purple eyes were puffy, from crying, so much so that she was barely paying attention to the wretched ruins of a city behind her. The castle at the far end, the place she lived for six years, stood still mainly in good condition. A branch snapped behind her, she whirled around, so quickly her black hair whipped her face.
“Don’t sneak up on me,” Emily whispered harshly.
Jill was there, her light tan skin was shiny, like she had just been running, most likely looking for Emily.
“We need to go before the storm hits Atlantis,” Jill replied, trying to ignore Emily’s harsh tone.
Emily stayed silent, pushing past JIll, heading towards the Puddle Jumper.
“I get to fly this time!” Jill yelled at Emily’s retreating back.
Why is Jill so stubborn? Emily thought to herself. Why does she have to be so like me and nothing like her father?
They got to the Puddle Jumper, the skies on this planet were also turning gray, a storm was brewing. JIll quickly guided the ship off the planet and towards the Stargate within its orbit. Emily stared into the emptiness of space as Jill flew them back through the Stargate. Once they landed in the hangar bay of Atlantis, Emily darted off the Puddle Jumper, pushing past Maria, ignoring her questioning look. Maria looked quizzically at Jill, who shrugged her shoulders. Emily quickly made her way to her private quarters, ignoring everything and everyone around her along the way. She opened her oldest diary, willing herself to be able to change her past, to make everything perfect again.

The Beginning

Emily was never normal, even among her own people. She was born with sky blue skin (basically the only thing normal about her) and a tail. Her eyes were amethyst purple, which was very uncommon in her people. But luckily she was born into a royal family. By the time she was three, she was manipulating fire, strange things happened whenever she was around. If Emily got mad things would explode. By the time she was six her people were being endlessly threatened by the Wraith. This story begins on her sixth birthday, the day the first changes in her life happened.
Emily woke up in her canopy bed, just like everyday, completely unaware of the changes around her. She looked around for Misha, her Athosian servant, but she was nowhere in sight. Emily, always having someone to dress her, was confused, Misha was supposed to stay in her room all night. She climbed out of her bed, tripping on the edge of her purple nightdress.
“Misha!” she screamed loudly, all to no avail.
Emily walked across the stone floor, it was very cold to her feet. Misha let the fire die out. Emily thought as she noticed the empty fireplace. She got the door open, after a small struggle, due to her slight size. The servant’s hall was completely empty, usually it was full of their slaves. It took Emily forever to convince her mother to let her have a bedroom down here (Emily wanted to be close to Misha).

Things to know about Misha
She is eleven and has been Emily’s caretaker since Emily was born. She and Emily are friends, they both considered almost equals. She is an Athosian with light tan skin, brown eyes, and long brown hair.

Things to know about Emily
She is six years old. She was born with purple eyes and has the ability to manipulate fire (among other things). Emily is very close to Misha and most of all she just wants to be normal.

She walked down the servant’s hall, and shivered, no fires were kept lit during the night. Emily looked into every door, until she reached Misha’s room. She was hesitant to enter, like she knew something was really wrong. Finally, Emily found the courage to enter Misha’s room, no one was there. In the middle of the room on Misha’s sleeping rug was a piece of parchment. She walked up to the rug and picked it up. The only problem was she was just learning to read, but she recognized Misha’s handwriting. She clutched it tight to find someone to read it to her. Emily walked out the room and up the stairs to find her parents. They were in the throne room, a long purple carpet was leading from the doors to their thrones in the middle of the room. Emily quickly ran to her father and jumped onto his lap, her father quickly passed her to her mother.
“Papa, Misha is gone and so are all our servants,” Emily said.
“We know,” her mother answered coldly. “They were culled by the Wraith last night.”
Emily turned to face her father. He looked frazzled, his once pure black hair was now speckled with gray ones, his beard almost completely gray. His once carefree expression was now one of worry, which cause wrinkling. He refused to meet her eyes.
“Papa, where is Misha?” Emily asked. “Can you bring her back?”
“I cannot, your mother is telling the truth,” was his weary reply.
Maybe now my ungrateful daughter will love me, without her meddling servant girl in the way. Emily’s mother thought to herself as she tried to force a smile at Emily, “Come, let me help you get dressed for the day.”
Emily stared at her mother, she knew that if she refused she would be punished again. So she silently nodded her head and let her mother take her back to her dressing room.

The next day, Emily woke up in her parents bedroom (her mother made her move out of the servant’s hall), she heard her parents talking to each other,
“How long before the Wraith come get us?” her mother asked.
“Do not worry, I have contacted some people to help us in exchange for something,” he answered.
Things to know about the Wraith
They are the worst enemies known so far. They can suck the life out of a person just by placing their hand upon the victim’s chest. Their touch causes fast aging, this is how the Wraith feed. They do not spare anyone, even children can fall prey to their attacks.
Things to know about the Ancients
They are Tauri(humans) a group of them left earth, to make a better home. This group of people made the Stargate systems. Leaving stargates at each planet they went to so they could get home. They made Atlantis, a city sitting on water, they also made many ships and warships to fight the Wraith.

“What do these people want?”
Emily could almost feel her father turning to face her direction, watching her. “They want the girl,” her parents rarely called her by name, she was different, an abomination, in her mother’s words.
“They want the girl,” her mother repeated. “How will they help us?”
“They have warships, big enough to transport our people to another planet in another galaxy,” her father explained.
Later on that day Emily was forced into her nicest gown, a long flowing purple one, that dragged on the floor when she walked around, the only good thing about this dress was that she didn’t have to wear shoes because no one could see her feet. Emily fidgeted around, this dress was so uncomfortable.
“Hold still,” her mother snapped. “I am trying to pull your hair up.”
Finally the strangers came to get Emily. They looked strange to the six year old girl. One man and one woman, they both were wearing white clothes. The woman in a white dress robe with white shoes. The man was wearing a white cloth tunic and pants along with white shoes. The man spoke for both of them.
“My name is Tomas,” he introduced himself. “This is Lexias,” pointing to the female. “We are here for your girl.”
Emily decided this was a time to hide behind her parents, trying to disappear, to no avail. Her mother forcefully pushed her forwards, knocking her to the ground. Her eyes turned a deadly shade of black as she stared at her mother, a strange wind blew around Emily. One of their throne chairs suddenly bursted into flames and her eyes turned back to purple.
“Okay, I will go now,” Emily exclaimed cheerfully.
Things to know about Emily
She is unstable, basically bipolar disorder, she can be happy one second; mad the next moment; to being sad, most people are confused about her and her abilities.

On Atlantis
Emily looked behind her, the stargate had just shut down. She was in a big open room, the walls lit up at the top, like the lights were built into them. Tomas lightly pushed her forward, so she focused in front of her. The stairs had lights in them, they lit up when she got near them, Emily was ecstatic, this place was strange to her, a new place to explore.
“Come along,” Tomas said grabbing her arm and pulling her lightly up the stairs.
“What is going to happen to me?” Emily asked.
Tomas bent down to her level, “You might be able to help us stop the wraith, if we can find out why you have the abilities you do,” he explained.
“You will not hurt me?”
“No,” Tomas promised.
But Emily soon found out he was lying. Her first day on Atlantis went horrible. Tomas took her to a medical lab and wanted to stick a needle in her arm, but Emily began kicking and screaming trying to keep the needle away from her. It took five people to hold her still for Tomas, but she still was able to scratch his face with her tail.
The next day Tomas came again to her quarters, the room was bare, only a single bed in the center of the room. Emily glared at him, she hated the fact that he lied to her.
“Emily, we need you to behave during the tests,” Tomas said kindly. “If you don’t we can’t find a way to defeat the Wraith.”
Emily continued to glare at Tomas, “Why me? What is in my blood that can help you?”
“Your special abilities can hold the key to making a weapon. We can do the tests with or without your cooperation, though one way will be more painful for you.”
Emily sighed. “Fine, I’ll be good.”
The testing days turned into weeks, turning into months, soon turned into nine years. During that time, the Ancients began to give supplements to Emily, making her abilities stronger, forcing her body to accept Wraith DNA so that she could hide among the wraith and disguise herself as one for them.
A sixteen year old Emily was pulling her hair back into a ponytail, today was her birthday, her day to escape, she had it all figured out. Today the Ancients were all in the meeting room in the Citadel Tower talking strategies to use against the Wraith. She had to be quick to get to the Stargate and through it before they noticed it was activated. She was going to a planet full of Wraith, one planet they would never follow her to. Emily quietly walked to the Stargate room, looking around corners for any stray people. She made it with no problem, activated the gate, and left.
She came out onto a planet with lots of vegetation and Wraith guards. They pointed their weapons at her.
“Michael, don’t you recognize me?” she asked.
One Wraith stepped forward, his pale green skin was paler than the others and his white hair was cut short. “Emily, you actually came through for us?”
“I have the information you need, if you will help me.”
“Follow me to the Hive Ship then,” he answered.
The walk to the Hive Ship seemed long, they had to walk through swampy jungles. There were lots of bugs that tried to bite Emily, every so often she would smack herself on the arm to kill the bugs. They finally reached the Hive Ship, the sun was rising slowly in the distance. In the main opening stood the Wraith queen, her skin was pale green and her hair was red as blood.
“Who is this girl?” she asked Michael.
“This is a friend, who can tell us all we want to know about Atlantis in exchange for our help,” he answered.
The queen turned to Emily, who slowly stepped back a little. “Help me get my revenge on my parents for giving me away to be some experiment and I will help you take Atlantis,” Emily whispered.
“Watch her Michael, as I make my decision,” the queen said.
Michael took Emily away, he led her to his lab, where many of his experiments were still in the open. He was trying to make some kind of super wraith army, to help beat the Ancients. So far many of the experiments were failures, the subjects dying before the final phase.
“You have been working hard,” Emily said as she looked around, mess of parchments littered every table’s surface. She inspected the notes made on them. “The problem is you are trying to use Athosians as subjects, their bodies are too weak to handle the changes caused by your serum.”
“Who should I use then?” Michael asked.
“The people I will lead you to,” Emily answered. “Many of my people have stronger bodies, they might stand a chance at surviving the transformation if there is any chance.” Emily turned her attention to Michael. “While I was on Atlantis I saw two of the Ancients do something to show their love for each other. Their lips touched the other persons, I saw that before only with my parents, though.”
“Humans are weak to show their emotions, they get blinded by them and that gives us the advantage,” Michael said as a way to explain to Emily why the Wraith don’t show emotions.
They stayed in his lab for hours, Emily helping Michael with his experiments and telling him about the life on Atlantis, how awful it was being their lab rat.
Meanwhile the queen was pacing in her quarters, deciding on whether she could trust Emily or not. There was something different about this girl, she had a human smell and Wraith smell to her, and another one, different, she assumed it was because she wasn’t human. Whatever the Ancients had done to her made her different and she seemed truly mad at the people who caused it. Her help would be much needed. She called for Michael to return with the girl to give them her decision.
Emily stood still, trying to show the Wraith queen respect, you did not want to anger this one, the stories Michael told Emily while they were waiting were gruesome.
“We will help you in exchange for all you can tell us about Atlantis,” she said to Emily.
“Thank you,” Emily gave a little bow.

Emily could barely contain her smile, the amount of Wraith Hive ships going to help her was enormous, though she could barely believe this was only a fraction of the Wraiths in this system. Each ship was equipped with hundreds of dart ships in their hangar bays, with twenty Hive Ships coming that meant over a thousand dart ships, thousands of Wraiths. They were getting closer to the planet, the one that Emily was taken from as a girl, she could not believe they were so naive to believe that she wouldn’t be able to find them.
“We are almost there,” Michael said to Emily.

On the planet, the people had no idea what was in store for them within the next few hours many people would be gone, no not dead, but taken away to become lab rats just as Emily was. As night fell the Wraith ships arrived, covered by the darkness, they began the release of all the dart ships. Lights from the ships lit up the planet sky as they began beaming people into the dart ships, and explosions and they began to destroy houses to force everyone out into the night. Emily calmly walked among the explosions and beams, not afraid of the Wraith, she was on a mission to find her parents within the castles. The dart pilots were informed to keep the one castle intact, they could have the rest of the planet, but Emily wanted to kill the queen and king.
Bodies littered the ground, mainly older people and little children who did not get out the way of explosions fast enough. Emily almost felt a little remorse for this but when she thought of all the torment she had endured it hardened her resolve to see this through, besides now it was too late to turn back.

Inside the castle the king was holding the queen, they had knew that sometime this would come, though both wanted to believe it wouldn’t happen in their lifetime. Their bedroom door burst open, but no one was there.
“Who is that!” the king yelled.
“We both know who caused this,” the queen said.
Emily stepped into the room, “Hello, parents,” she sneered.
Emily began to change, her light blue complexion now took on the pale green complexion of a Wraith. “See what you caused to happen. Your people are dead or taken to become lab rats just like you sentenced me to.” She stepped closer to her parents forcing them into a corner. “I have waited years for this moment. Now who wants to die first?”
Her mother stepped forward. “You are a monster, who would have ever wanted you. We DO NOT regret giving you away. My only regret is that you survived those experiments.”
“Looks like I got a volunteer,” Emily said. She forcefully grabbed her mother’s wrist and pushed her against the wall. Emily raised her hand to her mother’s chest. “Any last words?”
Emily’s mother spat into her face. “I hope you live with a tormented mind the rest of your life. I curse you, you will be forced to watch your kids die as you stay young for the rest of your existence.”
