Finally Watched Twilight... Review Time!

21st Jun 2009 10:58 ... Wow.
Now, to complete myself, I shall blog a review of it.
WARNING: Twilight fans shouldn't read, since I found this movie to be awful. I'm just warning you, since I know that I'm gonna get a lot of hate mail for having this *OPINION* and review.
EDIT: Please note that I did not watch the deleted scenes, so if I complain about something the movie lacked when it was in said scenes, then I'd appreciate it if you would inform me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) The actors were horrid and looked as though they were on drugs. I've seen Kristen and Robert outside the movie, and they're attractive at the least. However, in 'Twilight', the make-up made them look, as I've said, on drugs as well as in humanly pale. EDIT: Even though Kristen's supposed to be pale, 'cause her of albino thing (?? ??), my brother noticed that while her face was white, the neck-down was normal. Talk about not putting any effort into it. Of course, it wasn't just their looks; their acting was wretched. Every single thing Kristen said, up until the last fifteen minutes, was bland and unemotional. Not to mention that the dialogue itself was atrocious and pointless. Here's a quick quote (not exactly word-for-word, but close enough):
Edward: So, how do you like the rain?
Bella: Are you asking me about the weather?
Edwrad: Yeah... I guess I am.
-___-
Really? Is that, in any way, relevent to the story? Not to mention, it's the dumbest thing for Bella to ask after he asked her about RAIN, which is obviously weather. Overall, I felt that the only actor/actress that actually TRIED to have a personality was Ashley Greene, who played Alice.
2) The cinematography looked as though it were set up by a drunk teen. I mean, the camera would be set up in a way that would focus on someone other than the major actors in some scenes. It hurt to watch, even more than 'The Blair Witch Project' and 'Cloverfield'. Period. That's all I can say.
3) The dialogue, as I said, was atrocious and pointless at many parts. It lacked emotion and effort. To me, it looked as though the actors did NOT want to be there at all. I mean, I read the book, which was so much better than the movie, and while the writing style makes me cringe, it made more sense than the movie.
4) The music was lacking. While, as my brother said, there were some good songs in it, the movie was awful quiet. Of course, I'm not expecting anything big or noticable, but in the scenes where no one speaks, I heard litte to no background music. It bored me, since music acts as foreshadowing, and I could hardly hear it, if it was even there. Even the big moments lacked in energy, considering the fact that the movie is just a love story mixed with a failed attempt to add action.
5) The special effects made me laugh. It seemed as though they were trying to hard to make the movie look, "cool", but only made it look dorky. The sparkles were just pathetic. I was expecting a glitter-like look, but the "sparkles" were more like small shines that were hardly noticable. Almost like the camera was broken. Then, all the speed-flashes, or the attempts of those, gave me a headache and were overused. I mean, even if a super-fast vampire kicked a regular guy, the guy wouldn't move with super-speed.
6) They didn't focus on any other characters besides the main two. Of course, the story is about Bella and Edward, but at least the book also talked about Alice and bits of the others. I mean, they completely took out the part of the story that talks about Alice's mysterious past or where she came from. That really disappointed me, since she's really the only character I cared about.
7) On a last note, we were watching the first five minutes of the credits and almost EVERY person who worked in this movie was a woman, which disappoints me.
Overall, I give this movie a -3. Throughout all of it, my siblings and I laughed and made fun of practically every single scene, which was actually very easy. Whoever said that the movie was better than the book needs to see a REAL movie.
Sorry if I offended anyone, but this is how I really feel about the movie, and it's my personal opinion, afer all. I'm allowed to think this, and it's MY review.
Thank you.
