Etcetera - Chapter 2
16 years, 3 months & 24 days ago
25th Jul 2008 17:13 The house was quiet. I decided to put some music on. A CD was already in the stereo. It was one of my favourite songs Your Star, by my favourite band Evanescence. I have no idea of why I liked it so much though.
I closed my eyes and fell asleep. I wasn't tired, just very bored.
The music kept playing.
"Mom, I can't wait to get to the art museum!" I was squirming in my seat. I was very fond of art; drawing was one of my passions. It was fun to get ideas. "We're almost, dear." My mom said. She too, was excited. She loved art as much as I did, that made us very close to one another.
"Here at last." My mom said, to what seemed the air. Before we got out of the car, my mom told me, "Honey, I love you so much." "I know, why did you say it now?" I asked. "Just, just because." I could tell that she was lying to me. You could see she always winces when she lies to someone, especially me.
We got out of the car, locked it, and went inside the massive building. It was a quiet place with white walls, but I adored it anyway. There were lots of people. The only thing you hear were the 'Oohs' and 'Aahs' of the people looking at all the fascinating artwork, and taking it in. My mother and I joined the party.
After about an hour, my mom needed to go to the restroom, she told me that she'd be back in a few minutes. 'She's a big girl, she'll be able to go by herself.' I was real protective when it came to my mom, I didn't want to lose her. She was the only thing I had left.
Ten minutes have passed, still no sign of my mom. I was getting uneasy Suddenly, some policemen passed me by, heading straight toward the restroom, though I hadn't realized where they were going until my mind caught up with me. I sprinted around the corner to the restroom. There, I saw a group of people, -mostly ladies, men thought they were way too 'manly' to go into a women's restroom- clogging the doorway to see what was happening.
I pushed through everyone, struggling to get to the center of attention. White as a sheet, still as frozen lake, was my mother. Dead. I stared and stared, not being able to take it all in. Tears welled up into my eyes.
Finally, I broke down.
I fell to the ground next to her, tears coming down like a river. I grabbed her around the waist and kept shaking her, saying, "Mom, mom, wake up mom! Please don't go, your the only thing I'v got! I LOVE YOU!" I kept repeating those words, "Mom, wake up, WAKE UP!" The ignorant people staring at me with their sympathetic eyes. The officers, those stupid officers, trying to pull me off of my mother. I clung onto the dead corpse that was my mom. It was a horrible sight. After what had seemed ages, one officer had managed to yank me off of her as another had gotten and placed her on a stretcher. I kept screaming for her, kicking the officer trying to free myself from his tight grip.
I failed.
The paramedics took her away, away from me.
