The Very Quick Guide to Battling

If you want to battle Talon for the upcoming Thanksgiving event, your pet needs to have at least 10 in health, speed and strength and your pet needs 2 strong weapons. Healers and magic can come later.

If you're level 11 and want to win your first battle (usually a Talon Quest), you'll want your pet to have around 20 in health, speed and strength, and you'll want 2 strong weapons. Healers and magic can come later.

If you're level 13 and need to win a Knutt Knight quest, you'll want 20-50 in health, strength and speed (more is better), and you'll want to wait until you get a quest for Appy, which is the weakest card available from the Trading Cards Shop.

If you're level 15, you'll need a pet that has minimum 50 in health, speed, and strength, and that pet needs to have equipped two strong weapons, two healers, and magic. And you want to battle cards that are weaker than that pet so you can always win the battle.

But, no matter where you're at your pet will need weapons. Two of them. And then they will need training. But first, the weapons.

Mace, at 16 icons worth of damage, is the best weapon you can get without spending millions (and yes, I am assuming here that you don't want to spend millions). You can either win Mace from Defend the Castle (level 8, 2 star), or buy it in user shops. Since you can use 2 weapons per turn, it's best to get and equip 2. Defense weapons attack as well, so you can either get and equip 2 Combat Shield (also won from Defend the Castle) or leave these slots open. It's up to you.

Now, to train your pet.

So, how do you train your pet?

You can train with the Gym, games, Personal Trainer quests or a combination of all 3. The Gym requires crystals which are won from Haunted House quests. You can buy from user shops, too, but after a while this will become very expensive to do - especially during Maraween when prices tend to become insanely high, so best to stockpile your own hoard and best to start this stockpile as quickly as possible. How much to spend on each quest depends on your comfort zone and budget, so don't be afraid to let quests time out if they ask for too much. Whatever methods you use for pet training, you will want to stat up as evenly as possible. If you stat up with games, you'll want to get a pet stats gift box so the right pet gets the random stats. If you don't have a Pet Stats gift box, then a random pet will get the stat. The games that award stats are:

Fairy Flight
Gizmo Gravity
Gummy Bricks
Monty's Great Escape
Quack Mafia
Toy Blocks
Wallop!
Phantom Four (magic and charisma)

To find out what score you need for the stat you want, click the High Score Rewards icon at the game's gamepage.

You'll want to train speed, strength, health (YES, all three!) and you'll want to make sure that none of these stats get too far ahead of the other stats. Even stats are the best stats. Magic is the exception, however. it can go 5x level, so pack on all the magic you can, making sure to always keep it a bit higher than your pet's highest stat since it does the bulk of your pet's healing during battles.

Boosters are another way of statting up your pet. There are 4 type of boosters and they all have a 2 hour cooldown:
*Max Boosters: Available from the Account Upgrades Shop. 5-10 gym, elite or magic stats
*Min booster: Sometimes won from Hospital. Can give 1 stat or restore your pets Happiness, Thirst, and Hunger.
*Regular boosters: Available from the boosters shop gives 3 - 6 Gym, Elite Gym, or Magic stats
*Theme: 1 gym, elite, or magic. If they don't have the name of a stat or have the word "min" in them, they're theme.

But, along with battling comes healing.

For healing, you'll need Magic + 2 healers. Magic, you win from Computer Repair quests. If you have a Pet Stats giftbox, you can also win magic from different dailies such as Clock Tower, Eleka Fountain, Extract Enpiah, Murfin Madness, Operations Portal, Pixie Dice, Prize Drop, Sugar Stack, Sewer Struggle, Wheel of Fortune, Windmill and Whirlpool (requires map). You can also win magic from games. The High Score Rewards icon on that game's page will tell you what score you need for a magic stat.

Along with magic, you will need healers which are listed on my blog "
Healers" since healing strengths and prices are all over the place and it's impossible to tell what's a healer and what's a weapon in the Weapons shop. You can use 2 per turn, so best to equip 2.

The healers will say they are healing 0, but if you see the red ring around your pet turning green, it's healing. If not, then your magic is too weak and needs to be increased.

After the battle: You can either heal your pet at the Bubble Pit in Jenoa, or buy it a Health Tonic at the Health Tonics shop (species must match). Or, you can buy a Battle giftbox for your account, and have your pet(s) automatically healed at the end of a battle.

So you've got a strong pet and a strong weapon. Now, you just need opponents.

Your battle opponents a/k/a Trading Cards have both Health Points (HP) and Total Damage (TD). Health points are easy to see; they're right next to the card on the battle page. The TD, however, isn't easy to see, but they are found on my blog, "Trading Cards". For successful battling, it's best that your pet's Total Damage be greater than the Total Damage of the card you're battling. Your pet's Total Damage is found at the bottom of your pet's turn summary.

How do you find out what your pet's total damage is so you can battle weaker cards?

First, make sure your pet has at least 20 in health, speed, strength. Then, take it into battle against either a weak card like appy, or Talon quest. Then, look at their weapon damage amount (the first two lines), and the overall damage amount that's at the bottom next to the red plus sign.

So, when you go into battle, you see something like this:

Using my pet NortenaFan as an example, you see that her weapon damage amount is 89. 89 times 2 (one for each weapon you can use in battle) is 178. Stance amount doesn't seem to be based on anything, except what that battle wants to give you as a bonus at the end. So when this pet picks a battle card, it should have a total damage that's 178 or less.

These are my pet NortenaFan's stats and lineup at the time of this battle:

And speaking of total damage: you want stats as even as possible because your pet's total damage is factored from your pet's strength and speed which means that your pet will only be as strong as your weakest stat. Health is your longevity in battle, so it's worth training that as well and keeping it even-ish with the other stats. Defense, I also recommend training because it's useful for Olympics, Freelance Job Agency and some Pet jobs. Level can be roughly half of stats (or, stats can be double the level, however you want to think of it), but because it also means higher cost at the Gym, it's best not to level up your battle pet until you have to.

It's worth noting here, if her stats were even in speed and strength, she'd hit over 190 instead of over 178. Think of how many more cards that would beat.

Other things to know in battling:

Always start a Talon quest by going to the quest page and selecting Talon. Do not battle Talon directly from the battle page. It will not count if you have to do Talon quests.

Don't battle Wild Minipets until your pet has a total damage of 75 or more.

Sewer Struggle shouldn't really be played until your pet has a total damage of 14 or more

SPELLS: Is here because it's useless in battle. You only get 1 hit point per level of spell learned, with a max of 10. A lot of spells aren't even coded for battle, so they return a message saying the pet hasn't learned this spell yet. They are useful for certain pet jobs and Fire Fairy rewards, but those are the only 2 uses they currently have.

And one last thing:
It's also helpful to be flexible about your battle pet's species or colour. The reason being is that at times throughout the year, there are events that allow free training for pets of a certain costume. There are also double stats weeks which are great for training - if the pet has the right costume on for that week. Also, the Operations Portal, apart from doing nothing, can sometimes give stats or a transformation. If you do lose a transformation, you can possibly get it back with Drew quests, but they're often expensive and the certificates are quite difficult to obtain.

What if I'm impatient and want to start battling now?

It's entirely up to you when you want to start battling, but I've found that stats of 50 or more makes battling less of a struggle, especially with Knutt Knight quests. At stats of 20 and with Mace, the pet's total damage is over 12. At that total damage, these are the cards your pet can beat:

Now, compare that with stats of 50 which would give your pet a total damage of over 30. With that sort of total damage, these are the cards your pet can beat:

That's why there is no such thing as over training for battles. The stronger your pet is, the more cards that pet can beat and the less of a struggle you'll potentially have doing the Knutt Knight quests.

Magnets and Venom: Are both handy to use if you find you're in a battle against an opponent that's too strong for your pet. Magnets take that amount from your enemy, heals your pet by that same amount and gives your pet that amount of hitting power. Venom takes that amount from your enemy and blocks their attack by that same amount. Both are single use items and will disappear after the turn is over. Magnets can be won from Gizmo Gravity while Venom can be won from Peoria Prey which requires map. Both can also be bought from other users.

What about Rarity? Rarity doesn't mean anything in terms of weapon strength. If you look at the list of top weapons over or under 1 milllion MP, you'll see that the R numbers (rarity) are quite all over the place. Also, it's worth noting that the highest rarity is 50, and there are no r50 weapons on either list. Only icons worth of damage is the true measure of a strong weapon vs. a weak one, not rarity.

Even despite having the best weapons, a pet with stats and a decent deck, there will still be times where Knutt Knight will throw improbable or impossible opponents at you. Just let those quests time out and try again. Eventually you'll get a card your pet can beat.

"But I'd rather borrow a pet..." Yes, that is an option, but that could get very expensive very quickly. Especially since you'll be asked to battle many times along the way - even during events.

BUT if you want to borrow anyway, the following people are lending battle pets. Tips not required, but a crystal or diamond sent to the lender after returning the pet is always appreciated. Photos or plates are appreciated as well.

Trading Cards
2 years, 11 months & 6 days ago
14th Dec 2021 11:54

This is the Health Points and Total Damage of each card I have.

The first number is the HP or Health points or how long they can potentially stay in battle. The second number is the Total Damage, or TD. You want to battle cards that have a lower Total Damage than your pet. So for a card like Appy, it has 5 HP and 3 TD. If your pet's TD is higher than 3, your pet can battle it and win. If your pet's TD is 3 or lower, your pet is too weak and won't win the battle.

There are 4 lists. The first one is trading cards that I have bought from the Trading Cards Shop, arranged in order of total damage. The second one is my full deck in order of Total Damage, the third list is my full deck arranged in order of Health Points and the fourth is in alphabetical order. To make them easy to find via control + F, I have marked them 1. 2. 3. and 4.

Healers

These are the healers that I tested. The information is incomplete, but will be added in when the display is fixed.

H number indicates the healing power of the healer. The higher the H number, the stronger the healer. An asterisk in front of the name indicates that it can be bought at the weapons shop. All cap titles indicate retired. Double parentheses indicates the name it went by before the redraw/rename.

The Value of a Strong Weapon pt2
1 year, 11 months & 28 days ago
21st Nov 2022 20:32

When I wrote the blog, "The Value of a Strong Weapon" over 9 months ago, I wrote it to show why a strong weapon is necessary. But my battle pet was statted in her 300s at the time. A little too strong to be considered weak. So this time I decided to show the same thing, but this time, with a much weaker pet. This is my pet, TejanoFan. She's not a battle pet at all, but she can beat Appy (the weakest card one can buy from the Trading Cards shop). All battles are with Appy, and all attacks are normal attacks.

Here are her stats:

And here are her battle results with each weapon:

Staff of the Rainbow Fairy (17 Icons Worth of Damage):

Mace (16 Icons Worth of Damage):

Stone Spears (9 Icons Worth of Damage):

Lightning Sword (3 Icons Worth of Damage):

Swirly Love Elixir (0 Icons Worth of Damage) Robotic Claw (0 Icons Worth of Damage)*:

*Swirly Love Elixir no longer exists, so I substituted with another 0 icon weapon.
